The infamous Florida Man has had quite a 2019. On top of logging headlines like, “Florida Man Slices Arm of Man Who Denied Him Use of Squeegee,” he also nabbed himself an extra viral moment with the “Florida Man Challenge.” Now, he’s getting his own show on Oxygen, tentatively titled “Florida Man.” Buckle up because you haven’t been this inundated with the hijinks of Florida residents since you stood in line for two hours to ride Space Mountain.

According to Oxygen’s website, the series will “zero in on America’s most notorious, outrageous, craftiest killers from the Sunshine State. The series will unravel the strange twists and turns and try in vain to reason how and why this breed of killers took their crimes to levels beyond comprehension.”

Well, damn. We came here to hear about the guy that got arrested for impersonating a Nickelback drummer. Granted, this is one hundred percent in Oxygen’s wheelhouse—the network is also home to series like Snapped, Snapped: Killer Couples, and Preachers of L.A. What true gifts.

Earlier this year, the Florida Man Challenge took over Twitter, with users being prompted to search for their birthday along with the phrase “Florida Man” and then post the result, kind of like a very criminally-specific horoscope. In 2019, the Florida Man is the villain we deserve, even if Oxygen is choosing to only focus on the stories where someone was brutally murdered. Honestly, if you’re going to get your face bit off by a man hopped up on bath salts, why not do it in a place known for its sunshine and beautiful beaches?
