Remember the misguided days of the late ’90s and early 2000s, when Celine Dion was treated as little more than a punchline? It took us nearly twenty years to get on her level, to appreciate her ability to have fun and willingness to poke fun at herself, to collab with Deadpool, to cry when she’s sad and dance like hell when she’s having a good time. And she certainly seemed to be having a blast Saturday night when she was spotted at the third performance of Lady Gaga’s Las Vegas residency.
Gaga dedicated a song to Dion, and shouted out her pal in the crowd. “When she was asked if she had any advice for me in Las Vegas, she said I didn’t need it because I was strong and I knew what I was doing,” said Gaga of Dion. “And, oh my God, I swear to you, the number of women that I can count on one hand that are supportive in this industry—I would lose fingers, OK? You are amazing.”
Now please, feast your eyes upon fan footage of Celine Dion feeling every inch of her oats during Gaga’s performance of “The Edge of Glory.”
Even during numbers that found the diva feeling a little more low-key, she could be spotted busting out a few moves. May the start of 2019 find us all feeling as joyful as Queen Celine, if only for a for a few minutes.
